The world is watching
The New
Year’s Eve capital of the world awaits! While other parts of the world are
still stuck in the past, Sydney is one of those very few major cities that gets
to celebrate first! All eyes are on Sydney- and it never disappoints. With
benchmarks high and over a million eyes transfixed, Sydney New Year’s Fireworks is quite the spectacle. Sydney sure knows how to party- especially when it’s a party of this
scale and the entire planet’s invited!
Where can I see it from?
With
visitors from all around Australia and from around the world, finding a spot
to relax and enjoy the fireworks isn’t a
particularly easy task; you’d be lucky even if you’re able to find a
comfortable spot to stand. If you don’t mind spending the last day of the year
camping out at one of the vantage points, you can guarantee yourself a good
spot. And we’re talking about camping out from noon on 31st of December, just
to be clear. I’m definitely not up for that.
However,
there is one other way- a New Year’s Eve Cruise in Sydney! Choose from tempting
all-inclusive New Year’s Eve Cruise packages in Sydney and try to
bag them at reduced prices while they’re at their early-bird rates! NYE cruises
guarantee front-row access to the Sydney New Year fireworks and there are
plenty of vessels you could choose from. Crowd favourites include Magistic New Year’s Eve cruise and the Sydney Showboat NYE cruise which offer delectable dining menus and a pretty comprehensive drinks
packages to get that blood alcohol level spiking along with other exciting
inclusions that ensure you’ll ring in 2020 in sophistication and style!
Humble Beginnings
Since its
inception back in 1996, the Sydney New Year’s fireworks has, without a doubt,
levelled up every single year. Designed by Syd Howard Fireworks, a ten-second
pyrotechnic countdown with a comet shot off from buildings all the way from
North Sydney upto AMP tower every second, ushered in 1997! While it was quite
the spectacle at the time, its spectacular the rate to which it has evolved.
And Now..
The
multi-tiered event, staged by the Sydney City Council, centred at the heart of
the harbour now draws an audience of over 1.5 million eager participants from
around the world and 1.1 billion reportedly watching the televised version.
A smaller
firework display that happens at 9pm is ideal for families with kids. However,
the pyrotechnic display that commences at the stroke of midnight is undoubtedly
a true treat to the senses! The kaleidoscope of colours that brighten up the
summer night skies reflecting off the cascading Sydney harbour waters.
Mesmerising, to say the least. Starting the year off with a bang indeed- a
firework display worth watching!
Stray away
from the usual in ‘Straya this New Year’s Eve onboard a cruise! Don’t
miss out celebrating in the harbour from your front-row seats that feels like
the dress circle, to ring in 2020 in ultimate sophistication.
